Fusion

Some really amazing funk-jazz-rock-country-groove fusion masterpiece, interpreted by this band called The Fellowship, one of the great proyects of guitar virtuoso Guthrie Govan. This british guitar player is recognized by its incredible speed and combination of genres, using scales and sounds that come from jazz, hard rock, rythm & blues, groove, funk, blues and even latin or metal. This song is a tribute to the recognized jazz bass player Jaco Pastorius, one of the most influential musicians in modern jazz history, and the only electric bass player to ever win so many prizes and recognition along with Victor Wooten.

Salsa: Rubén Blades pt2

Siembra, a classic salsa album of all times, was Willie Colon and Ruben Blades second album. Pedro Navaja, plastico and Buscando Guayaba are Ruben Blades most famous songs, and they were all released in this album.  My personal favorite is Plastico, a pro latinerican song that describes our transformation to a consumerist and North American society.

Hector Lavoe

Juanito Alimaña

Juanito Alimaña is a story of many other that happened in Latin America.  The difficult of living and to gain life that make anyone mad.  Juanito Alimaña is a thief which has been stolen all his live. He is recognized by his neighbors in the streets but no one dares to call the police, they all fear him. He has been in jail but he always gets free because his cousin is a police officer.

The song is from Hector Lavoe who was born in Puerto Rico and lived most of his life in New York, where he died. He used to sing about cruelty of live and about true stories with anonymous characters, always decorated with the besto bongos and trumpets of Salsa music.

Salsa: Rubén Blades 1

Rubén Blades Panamanian composer, producer, musician and lawyer was part of the talented musicians that were pioneers and creators in the Caribbean rhythms that later on would be known as “Salsa”.
His first CD was a co work with Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez and his band, this experience opened Ruben a door of fame, success and “sabor” nevertheless  he doesn’t add this, his firs work to his discography. After a series of productions that were highly accepted by the public, he was invited to record a song as lead singer in “La Fania All Stars” placing his name in the podium with other giants like Hector Lavoe, Ismael Miranda, Roberto Roena, Cheo Feliciano and more. “Juan Pachanga”, a song full of lyrical emotion that narrates a story of a man that underneath a layer of fake happiness  lays a sad man that dwells with a broken heart  with rum, bongos, and "fiesta".
